Over the past four years I’ve been focused on some key issues for the City.

I’m happy to report that we’ve made progress on each of them, thanks to hard work by staff and my colleagues on City Council, and our many Boards and Commissions.

I invite you to read some of the specifics about each of these, and to watch my State of the City address, this year being my fourth speech covering many of these topics. I’m also the first Mayor to give an address to employees, to give them the opportunity to share with me their experiences and feedback and ideas for City Hall and the greater City.

What’s in our future?

If elected to another term, I will focus on these core issues while we watch the broader economy. We’ve defied circumstances that have affected so many cities in California and across the country. I believe the next year or two is going to require continued experienced leadership, a focus on remaining competitive in tourism, and continued revitalization for our core.

I thank everyone—our staff, business leaders, boards, commissioners, residents, and my colleagues—who have participated on the issues that help us continue to thrive even in light of national challenge.
